I can give you are summary of how to do it.  UK geometry  is somewhat different to US with regard to symbols used and names.

You need to prove  that the 2 triangles BCE and ADE are congruent and then you can say that the sides are also congruent:-  Sides BC and AD are equal (opposite sides of a parallelogram) Also < CBE = <ADE ( alternate angles) and  < BCE = EAD ( alternate angles)  So the triangles are congruent by 2 angles and the corresponding side, ( I think that would be ASA in the US).

the axis of symmetry of a quadratic equation is x = –3. if one of the zeroes of the equation is 4, what is the other zero?
FinnZ [79.3K]
ANSWER

The other zero is

x =  - 10

EXPLANATION

The axis of symmetry serves as the midpoint of the two zeroes.

We were given that the axis of symmetry of the quadratic equation is
x =  - 3

We were also given that, one of the zeroes of the quadratic equation is
x = 4

Let the other zero of the quadratic equation be
x = p

,then, we apply the midpoint formula to find the value of
p

Since it is the x-values of the intercepts that gives the solution, we use only the x-value part of the midpoint formula which is given by,

\frac{x_1 + x_2}{2}  = axis \: of \: symmetry

We substitute to obtain,

\frac{p + 4}{2}  =  - 3

We multiply through by 2 to get,

p + 4 =  - 6

This implies that,

p =  - 6 - 4

p =  - 10

Solve the system by graphing.
igor_vitrenko [27]

Answer:

Hi There the correct answer is {x,y} = {-1,-10}

System of Linear Equations entered :

  [1]    3x - y = 7

  [2]    4x - 2y = 16

Graphic Representation of the Equations :

   y + 3x = 7        -2y + 4x = 16

Solve by Substitution :

// Solve equation [1] for the variable  y

 [1]    y = 3x - 7

// Plug this in for variable  y  in equation [2]

  [2]    4x - 2•(3x-7) = 16

  [2]    -2x = 2

// Solve equation [2] for the variable  x

  [2]    2x = - 2

  [2]    x = - 1

// By now we know this much :

   x = -1

   y = 3x-7

// Use the  x  value to solve for  y

   y = 3(-1)-7 = -10

Solution :

{x,y} = {-1,-10}

Hope it helps!
