Answer:

Factoring not possible

x = -3 + sqrt(7), -3 - sqrt(7)

Or,

x = 0, -8

Step-by-step explanation:

x² + 6x + 4 = 2

x² + 6x + 2 = 0

Doesn't have rational roots

Quadratic formula:

By - 4AC = 6² - 4(1)(2) = 28

Sqrt(28) = 2sqrt(7)

x = [-6 +- 2sqrt(7)]/2

x = -3 +- sqrt(7)

x = -3 + sqrt(7), -3 - sqrt(7)

If the equation is:

x² + 6x + 4 = -2x + 4

x² + 8x = 0

x(x + 8) = 0

x = 0, -8

Look over all of the possible answers.  If any of them contains either M or N or both, the result is irrational.  There's one exception:  N^2 produces a rational number because the radical disappears.

What is the decimal multiplier to increase by 3%?
nlexa [21]
If you want to increase something by 3%, you would ADD 100% to it, so:
3% + 100% = 103%
Then you divide it by 100 to turn it into a decimal, so:
103% / 100 = 1.03
So to increase by 3%, the multiplier would be 1.03

If you wanted to decrease by 3%, you would SUBTRACT 100% from 3%, so:
100% - 3% = 97%
And then you would divide 97% by 100 to turn it into a decimal (multiplier), so:
97% / 100 = 0.97
So to decrease by 3%, the multiplier would be 0.97
