Hello!

Areas of quadrilaterals follow the formula A = bh, where b is the base and h is the height. What this formula means is you multiply the base length by the height length and you will have the area. The important thing to remember when calculating area is that the result will always be in units squared (example: 24 cm²). I'll do a few:

1) A = bh
    A = 8(2)
    A = 16 units²

(Since there is no unit given, just use the word units.)

2) A = 8(9)
    A = 72
    A = 72 units²

3) A = 6(5)
    A = 30
    A = 30 units²

I hope this helps you!

To find the area, you would multiply length times width.
For example, to find the area of problem number 1, I would multiply 8 (length) times 2 (width) to get the area of 16.
I hope this helped! If you need another example, feel free to ask!

tim measures a water tower (cylinder) with the circumference of 62.8cm and height of 11.5cm, in his town a person needs 300cm3 o
miss Akunina [59]

Answer:

about 12 people

Step-by-step explanation:

cir.=2πr=62.8 , so r=31.4/π , vol of tower= base area × hight = πr² × 11.5 ≈ 3609.17 cm³ , number of people= vol/300 ≈ 12

a street light is at the top of a 18 ft tall pole. a woman 6 ft tall walks away from the pole with a speed of 4 ft/sec along a s
shutvik [7]

The most appropriate choice for similarity of triangles will be given by -

Speed of tip of the shadow of woman  = 6 ft/s

What are similar triangles?

Two triangles are said to be similar, if the corrosponding angles of the triangles are same and the corrosponding sides of the triangles are in the same ratio.

Here,

The diagram has been attached here

Let the distance of woman from the pole be x ft and the distance of tip of the shadow to the pole be y ft.

Height of street light = 18 ft

Height of woman = 6ft

The two triangles are similar [As height of woman is parallel to the height of pole]

\frac{y - x}{6}=\frac{y}{18}\\18y - 18x = 6y\\18y - 6y = 18x\\12y = 18x\\y = \frac{18}{12}x\\y = \frac{3}{2}x\\

To find the speed, we have to differentiate both sides with respect to time 't'

\frac{dy}{dt} =\frac{3}{2}\frac{dx}{dt}\\\frac{dy}{dt}=\frac{3}{2} \times 4\\\frac{dy}{dt} = 6

Speed of tip of her shadow = 6 ft
