So the whole goal of this is to get the variable (z) all by itself on one side with a coefficient (the number in front of the variable (z)) of one. All you have to do is add seven to each side to get z alone and then divide by two:

2z-7< or equal to 1
        +7
2z< or equal to 8
         /2
z< or equal to 4

2z-7\leq1\ \ \ \ |add\ 7\ to\ both\ sides\\\\2z\leq8\ \ \ \ |divide\ both\ sides\ by\ 2\\\\\boxed{z\leq4\to z\in(-\infty;\ 4]}

8 miles in 0.5 hour what rate in miles per hour
yan [13]
In this question it is already given that a person travels 8 miles in 0.5 hours. This is enough information to get to the required answer. Let us first write down all the information's that are already given in the question.
In 0.5 hours the person covers a distance = 8 miles
Then
In 1 hour the person covers a distance of = 8/0.5 miles
                                                                   = 16 miles
So the speed of the person in miles per hour = 16/1 miles/hour
                                                                         = 16 miles per hour
