Different ratios occur in crosses with single gene pairs or two gene pairs. What types of ratios are likely to occur in crosses
likoan [24]

Answer:

Genotype ratio: 1, 1:1, 1:2:1

Phenotype ratio: 1, 3:1

Explanation:

Single gene pair cross is also known as monohybrid cross. This means that only one gene usually with two alleles is observed and it express one trait.

For example, if we name the gene for a certain trait with A, the possible genotypes are AA (dominant homozygous), aa (recessive homozygous) and Aa (heterozygous). Possible crosses are:

P: AA x AA

F1 : all of them are AA

The same is with aa x aa (all of the offspring are with aa genotype)

P: AA x Aa

F1: AA Aa AA Aa (genotype ratio 1:1) (phenotype ratio 3:1)

The same genotype ratio is in aa x Aa (offspring will have aa Aa aa Aa-(genotype ratio 1:1) (phenotype ratio 1:1)

P: Aa x Aa

F1: AA Aa Aa aa (genotype ratio 1:2:1) (phenotype ratio 3:1)

P: AA x aa

F1: Aa Aa Aa Aa (1)

construct an explanation for the high incidence of tusklessness in the Gorongosa elephant population.
Setler79 [48]

Answer:

Argument: A trend toward an increased incidence of tusklessness will result in decreased population sizes in the

future.

Claim: In the long term, tusklessness in African elephants is not beneficial to populations, even when heavy

poaching is occurring. So, as tusklessness increases, elephant population sizes will decline.

Evidence: Although poachers kill elephants with tusks, elephants rely on their tusks for survival. Elephants use

their tusks to strip bark off trees for food and to dig up water and minerals from the ground. Male elephants

also use their tusks in competitions with other males for females.

Reasoning: Tuskless elephants are probably not as healthy as those with tusks, as they cannot eat bark off trees

and are unable to dig for water and minerals. During harsh conditions such as droughts, elephants without

tusks would be less likely to survive. Male elephants without tusks are also more likely to be injured during

mating competitions. If too many males are injured or killed, there may be a decline in reproduction.

Over time, many of the tuskless elephants will die or be unable to reproduce, so the population’s size will

decrease.

Single called organisms that love moisture
Butoxors [25]

Answer:

Single celled organism that love moisture is yeast.

Explanation:

Yeast is a single cell organism that is grouped with kingdom fungi. The commonly known yeast is Saccharomyces cerevisiae that is used for baking and brewing industry. Yeast fermentation requires moisture and a warm environment. The moisture and carbohydrates are hydrolyzed during fermentation process to the simple sugars.

The ocean is called the carbon sink because there is mass amounts of carbon all the way at the bottom. How did the carbon get th
Solnce55 [7]

There is absorption of carbon dioxide by the oceans through physicochemical (air-sea surface exchange) and biological processes. During physicochemical process, molecules of CO2 get into the ocean by diffusing into the sea surface waters and dissolving. Various factors such as wind, sea surface mixing, concentrations of CO2, and the temperature of the water influences the amount of CO2 that diffuses and dissolves in the ocean surface water. Also, during biological processes, dead cells, shells and other parts of dead organisms get decayed and releases carbon dioxide at the bottom of the water.
