A geologist finds that a Moon rock whose mass is 8.94 kg has an apparent mass of 6.18 kg when submerged in water. What is the de
Grace [21]

Density of rock = 3.23 Kg/m^3

Given:

mass of Moon rock = 8.94 kg

apparent mass of Moon rock = 6.18 kg

To Find:

density of the rock

Solution: It is a universal fact that mass of an object remains constant whether measured on earth or on moon.

Mass of rock on moon/earth = 8.94 kg

When the block is immersed in water then;

Loss in weight = weight of water displaced

Loss in weight = 8.94 - 6.18 = 2.76 kg

As we know that water has a density of 1g/cm^3 (1000kg/m^3)

Volume of water = volume of the rock = Mass/density = 2.76 kg

density of rock mass/volume = 8.94/2.76 = 3.23 Kg/m^3

Density of rock = 3.23 Kg/m^3

When a net force of 17.0 newtons is applied to a dictionary placed on a frictionless table, it accelerates by 3.75 meters/second
4vir4ik [10]
Force = (mass) x (acceleration)    (Newton's second law of motion)

Divide both sides of the equation by 'acceleration', and you have

Mass = (force) / (acceleration)

Mass = 17 newtons / 3.75 meters per second-sqrd = 4.533 kilograms (rounded)

(a) If the coefficient of kinetic friction between tires and dry pavement is 0.80, what is the shortest distance in which you ca
Colt1911 [192]

a) 52.5 m

b) 16.0 m/s

Explanation:

a)

The motion of a car slowed down by friction is a uniformly accelerated motion, so we can use the following suvat equation:

v^2-u^2=2as

where

v = 0 is the final velocity (the car comes to a stop)

u = 28.7 m/s is the initial velocity of the car

a is the acceleration

s is the stopping distance

For a car acted upon the force of friction, the acceleration is given by the ratio between the force of friction and the mass of the car, so:

a=\frac{-\mu mg}{m}=-\mu g

where:

\mu=0.80 is the coefficient of friction

g=9.8 m/s^2 is the acceleration due to gravity

Substituting and solving for s, we find:

s=\frac{v^2-u^2}{-2\mu g}=\frac{0-(28.7)^2}{-2(0.80)(9.8)}=52.5 m

b)

In this case, the car is moving on a wet road. Therefore, the coefficient of kinetic friction is

\mu=0.25

Here we want the stopping distance of the car to remain the same as part a), so

s=52.5 m

We can use again the same suvat equation:

v^2-u^2=2as

And since the final velocity is zero

u = 0

We can find the initial velocity of the car:

v=\sqrt{2as}=\sqrt{2\mu gs}=\sqrt{2(0.25)(9.8)(52.5)}=16.0 m/s

When throwing a baseball overhand, what should you avoid?
daser333 [38]

when throwing a baseball overhand the muscles you use are

deltoids.

triceps.

latissimus dorsi.

abdominal muscles.

hips.

glutes.

so you should stretch and make sure you dont pull or hurt these muscles but you dont have to throw overhand Pitching underhand wasn't a gimmick for Gheen, it was his preferred style. He was mentioned in newspapers across the country for his unorthodox technique. An MLB umpire confirmed pitching underhand is allowed. also a good exercise to work out your arm would be A baseball push-up is meant to increase the power of your arms and core, and to increase the coordination between the two. This exercise also promotes good posture because it forces you to flex the muscles of the core in order to keep the lower back from bending.

       and i'll leve you with a quick fact: Softball pitchers use an underhand motion that is not as stressful to the shoulder joint as the overhand pitch used in baseball. Softball pitchers can often pitch several games in one day, and often have an extended career of many years due to the lower stress levels on the shoulder joint.

  good luck on your throwing!!
