PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS GEOMETRY HW!! Let me know if I got my answers right and please help me with the blank ones
artcher [175]

Step-by-step explanation:

Your answers for 1 and 2 are correct.  MN and LN are both radii of the circle, and therefore equal.  And NK can be found using Pythagorean theorem.

To find LP (and PM), we can use similar triangles:

LN / NK = LP / LK

10 / 26 = LP / 24

LP ≈ 9.23

PM ≈ 9.23

LM ≈ 2 × 9.23 = 18.46

To find NP, we can again use similar triangles.

NP / NL = NL / NK

NP / 10 = 10 / 26

NP ≈ 3.85

NQ is a radius of the circle, so it is equal to 10.  PQ is therefore:

PQ ≈ 10 − 3.85 = 6.15

As you found, QK = 26 − 10 = 16.

Before we find LR, let's find RK using similar triangles.

RK / QK = NK / LK

RK / 16 = 26 / 24

RK ≈ 17.33

LR ≈ 24 − 17.33 = 6.67

As you found, MK = 24.

And finally, MS = LR ≈ 6.67.

Two fuel tanks with the dimensions shown have the same volume. What is the value of h?
Luda [366]

(See attached picture for the diagram of both fuel tanks)

Answer:

2ft

Step-by-step Explanation:

==> Given:

Two cylindrical fuel tanks, one has a radius of 3ft, and height of 8ft, the second tank has a radius of 6ft and unknown height.

Also, volume of 1st tank = volume of 2nd tank

==> Required:

Find h = unknown height of the the 2nd tank.

=>Solution:

To find the height of the 2nd tank = h, we need to know the volume. Thus, volume of first tank = volume of 2nd tank.

Since the dimensions of the 1st tank are all given, let's find its volume.

Thus, volume of 1st tank using the formula V = πr²h (where π = 3.14, r = 3ft, h = 8ft)

V = 3.14*3²*8

= 3.14*9*8 = 226.08 ft³

Volume of first tank = volume of 2nd tank = 226.08 ft³

=> Let's find the height of the 2nd tank with same volume of 226.08ft³

Therefore, V = πr²h (V = 226.08, r = 6ft, h = ?)

226.08 = 3.14*6²*h

226.08 = 3.14*36*h

226.08 = 113.04*h

226.08/113.04 = h

2 = h

Height of the second fuel tank (h) = 2ft

I'm really stuck on this math problem. I never learned this in school. Can someone please help me out? Thank you
romanna [79]
Hehe, these are fun to do. There are two ways to do this kind of problem. You can use the pythagorean theorem or we can use the distance formula.
Distance formula:
d= \sqrt{(x2-x1)^2+(y2-y1)^2}

Pythagorean Theorem:
a^2+b^2=c^2

Distance formula is better if you're finding distance between two coordinates. The Pythagorean Theorem only really works for independent values. If I had 2 sides of a triangle, and I needed to find the third, I'd use this equation to find it. In this case, we'll use the distance formula.

I'll work the first one out for you:
 x1   y1     x2  y2
(3,   2) & (7,   4)

d= \sqrt{(7-3)^2+(4-2)^2}
                           v
d= \sqrt{(4)^2+(2)^2}
                           v
d= \sqrt{(16+4}
                           v
d= \sqrt{20}

There's your answer!
