stood out most to me for the use of ingenuity when Grumman (who designed the lander) needed to shave off every ounce of weight that they could to make the lander work.  They went with long, thin cylindrical scrubbers as these were the most weight efficient - they actually had two different kinds - there was a smaller 'backup' cylinder in the lander in addition to it's main one.
