50 stocks x $17 per stock = 850

850 x 2%

850 x 0.02 = 17

cost of stocks is 850

commission is 17

850+17=867

total price is 867

Buy 50 Chevron at $17, plus a two percent commission (too much).

Cost of stock:  50 shares × $17 per share = $850

Commission is 2% of 850 = .02 × 850 = $17

Total is $867
