Yes. In general, a rational number with a non-integer exponent is not assured of being rational. (Any prime with a non-integer exponent is irrational, for example.)

2^(1/2) is irrational

(9/25)^(3/2) is rational

Miguel wants to buy a condominium. He has the choice of buying it now or renting it with the option to buy at the end of 3 years
kolbaska11 [484]
Total amount paid if he bought = 6000 + 726(12 x 3) = 6000 + 726(36) = 6000 + 26,136 = 32,136
Total amount paid if he rents = 2000 + 37P, where P is the monthly rent

For renting to be cheaper
2000 + 37P < 32,136
37P < 32136 - 2000 = 30136
P < 30136 / 37 = 814.49

Therefore, the maximum rent he could pay is $814

Line GH contains points G(–2, 6) and H(5, –3). What is the slope of ?
son4ous [18]

Answer:

The answer is

-\frac{9}{7}

Step-by-step explanation:

The slope of a line given two points can be found by using the formula

m = \frac{ y_2 - y _ 1}{x_ 2 - x_ 1} \\

where

(x1 , y1) and (x2 , y2) are the points

From the question the points are

G(–2, 6) and H(5, –3)

The slope is

m = -3 - 6 / 5 -- 2 = - 9 /7

Hope this helps you

Why will the value of y for the function y equals 5x + 1 always be greater than that of y equals 4x + 1 with X greater than 1?
klemol [59]
You mean
the linear equations, 5x-y+1=0,4x-y+1=0
the slopes are 5 and 4 respectively.
it is clear that slope of first equation is greater that is it has a steeper graph therefore it Will always be greater than the other for x > 1
the same can be done by calculus; differentiation.

note y=5x+1 is always greater than y=4x+1 for all x>1

two linear functions have the same slope,same x-intercept, and same y-intercept. Must these functions be identical? Explain your
Leviafan [203]
Yes, because only one line can go through two set points and because they have the same slope and the same x and y-intercepts they have two set points that they must both go through making them identical.

The data set below shows the number of points scored by a basketball team for each of nine games. If the mean of the data is 83
valentinak56 [21]

Answer:

The scores within one standard deviation of the mean are: 77, 79, 80, 83, 87, 88

Step-by-step explanation:

The mean of the data is 83 and the standard deviation is 6.5, find scores within 1 standard deviation of the mean:

Between

83 - 6.5 = 76.5

83 + 6.5 = 89.5

So:

The scores within one standard deviation of the mean are: 77, 79, 80, 83, 87, 88
