Gene expression. ... Genes that code for amino acid sequences are known as 'structural genes'. The process of gene expression involves two main stages: Transcription: the production of messenger RNA (mRNA) by the enzyme RNA polymerase, and the processing of the resulting mRNA molecule.

A student postulated that the sodium pump directly causes action potentials along neurons. Is this hypothesis reasonable?
Leviafan [203]

Answer:

No.this does not cause action potential.

Explanation:

Action potential is formed from the  influx of sodium ions through the special  sodiun channels call  volatage gated channels.

The influx caused deoplarisation and if upto to  the threshold level give action potential.

The  influx of sodium and out flux at the  node of  Ranvier does not lead to action potential neither does  hydrolysis of ATPs  for its active transports process.

The sodium pump is for maintenance of  electrochemical gradients with potassium for maintaining Resting Membrane Potential of the neuron.

Was it beneficial or harmful for the Balanus barnacle to add the Chthamalus barnacle? Explain
densk [106]

Answer:

harmful. (more info below)

Explanation:

Balanus may compete with Chthamalus through crowding or smothering, but Chthamalus can inhabit higher tide levels than Balanus since it is more immune to desiccation. Lower on the sea, the barnacles of acorn combine with the Endoclades (Turfweed) assemblage, and are also abundant on the shells of acorn. To conclude, it was a bad idea is add the balanus barnacle to the Chthamalus barnacle becuase balanus barnacles can crowd Chthamalus barnacle.

hope this helped!
