To solve this problem we will apply the mathematical concepts given in Coulomb's laws. We will start from the definition of the potential difference, which is understood as the product between the Coulomb constant by the load on the distance between the two objects.

Later we will apply the concept of energy, which is similarly understood as the product between the charge squared by the Coulomb constant over the distance squared.

The voltage difference would be:

V = \frac{kq}{r}

Here,

k = Coulomb's constant

q = Charge

r = Distance

At the same time energy can be defined as,

E = \frac{kQ_1Q_2}{r^2} = \frac{kQ^2}{r^2}

PART A) For this part the potential difference at two objects is the same, then

V_1 = V_2

\frac{k(30)}{x^2} = \frac{k(44)}{(0.5-x)^2}

\frac{(30)}{x^2} = \frac{(44)}{(0.5-x)^2}

Solving for x,

x = 0.2261m from 30\mu C

Part b)  The magnitude (in N/C) and direction of the electric field halfway between them is

E at x = 0.2261m

|E| = \frac{k(30*10^{-6})}{(0.2261)^2}-\frac{k(44*10^{-6})}{(0.2261)^2}

|E| = \frac{(9*10^{9})(30*10^{-6})}{(0.2261)^2}-\frac{(9*10^{9})(44*10^{-6})}{(0.2261)^2}

|E| = 2.4647*10^6 N/C

jeka57 [31]

Answer:

a. A = 0.735 m

b. T = 0.73 s

c. ΔE = 120 J decrease

d. The missing energy has turned into interned energy in the completely inelastic collision

Explanation:

a.

4 kg * 10 m /s + 6 kg * 0 m/s = 10 kg* vmax

vmax = 4.0 m/s

¹/₂ * m * v²max = ¹/₂ * k * A²

m * v² = k * A²  ⇒ 10 kg * 4 m/s = 100 N/m * A²

A = √1.6 m ² = 1.26 m

At = 2.0 m - 1.26 m = 0.735 m

b.

T = 2π * √m / k ⇒ T = 2π * √4.0 kg / 100 N/m = 1.26 s

T = 2π *√ 10 / 100 *s² = 1.99 s

T = 1.99 s -1.26 s = 0.73 s

c.

E = ¹/₂ * m * v²max =

E₁ = ¹/₂ * 4.0 kg * 10² m/s = 200 J

E₂ = ¹/₂ * 10 * 4² = 80 J

200 J - 80 J  = 120 J decrease

d.

The missing energy has turned into interned energy in the completely inelastic collision

Mary has a mass of 40 kg and sprints at 1 m/s. How much kinetic energy does she have?
Sav [38]

Answer:

20 J

Explanation:

Kinetic energy is given as half of the product of mass and the square of velocity of an object:

KE = \frac{1}{2}mv^2

where m = mass = 40 kg

v = velocity = 1 m/s

Hence, Mary's kinetic energy is:

KE = \frac{1}{2} * 40 * 1^2

KE = 20 * 1 = 20 J

She has a kinetic energy of 20 J.
