The Freedmen's was created to provide relief and stability for previous slaves and those of African Descent, and was task with protecting slaves and helping them be able to use their new found rights. However, the Freedmen's, while they were successful in creating schools, houses, etc. for the previous slaves, they failed in giving slaves <em>true</em> equality, which did not occur until after World War II.
