The Rugged Endoplasmic Reticulum (RER), also called granular endoplasmic reticulum, ergastoplasma or rough endoplasmic reticulum, is an organelle that is responsible for the synthesis and transport of secretion or membrane proteins. There are reticles only in eukaryotic cells.
