Gaps have no data in them. So the range 1-2 is a gap.

Clusters are groups of data that are right next to each other.

So the range 3-6 on your dot plot is a cluster, because there is a group of data there with no gaps.

Peaks are the greatest amount of data in the dot plot. 0 and 5 are the peaks because they both have the most data, 4.

The area of the square is 100 square centimeters. What is the area of the circle?
swat32

Answer:

  • Since the question is incomplete, see the figure attached and the explanation below.

Explanation:

Since the figure is missing, I enclose the figure of a square inscribed in a circle.

Since the <em>area of a square</em> is the side length squared, you can determine the side length:

  • Area = (side length)²
  • 100 cm² = (side lenght)²

        side\text{ }length=\sqrt{100cm^2}=10cm

From the side length, you can find the diagonal of the square, which is equal to the diameter of the circle, using the Pythagorean theorem:

  • diagonal² = (10cm)² + (10cm)² = 2 × (10cm)²

         diagonal=\sqrt{2\times (10cm)^2}\\ \\ diagonal=10\sqrt{2} cm

The area of the circle is π (radius)².

  • radius = diameter/2 = diagonal/2

        area= \pi \times (5\sqrt{2}cm)^2=50\pi cm^2

Solve for x. 4−(2x+4)=5
WITCHER [35]

4-(2x+4)=5\\-2x-4=1\\-2x=5\\x=-2.5

Put it back into the equation,

4-(2x+4)=5\\4-(2(-2.5)+4)=5\\4-(-5+4)=5\\4-(-1)=5\\5=5

If f(x) varies directly with x and f(x) = 4 when x = 12, then what is the value of f(x) when x = 60?
ANTONII [103]
ANSWER

f(60)=3\times60=180

EXPLANATION
We were given that
f(x)
varies directly as
x.

We can write this mathematically as,

f(x) \propto \: x.

This implies that,

f(x) = kx
where k is the constant of variation.

f(4)=4k

This implies that,

4k=12

k = 3

The equation becomes

f(x)=3x

When x=60

f(60)=3\times60=180

The after school craft center has 15 boxes of 64 crayons each. In 12 of the boxes , 28 of the crayons have not been used. All th
Korolek [52]

The <em><u>correct answer</u></em> is:

624 crayons.

Explanation:

In 12 of the boxes, 28 crayons have not been used; this leaves 64-28=36 crayons that have been used. 12(36) = 432 crayons have been used in these boxes.

3 full boxes have been used; this is 3(64) = 192 crayons.

Together this makes 432+192 = 624 crayons that have been used.
