Positive reinforcement increases responding and negative reinforcement ___________responding.
azamat

Increase; decrease

Punishment can be used in a positive or negative way, just like reinforcement. Any reinforcer, whether positive or negative, makes a behavioral response more likely. Positive or negative punishments both reduce the chance of a behavioral response.

What is Reinforcement?

Reinforcement is a technique used in behavioral psychology to strengthen an organism's future behavior whenever that behavior is preceded by a certain antecedent stimulus.

This strengthening effect may be quantified as increased behavior (e.g., drawing a lever more frequently), increased duration (e.g., pushing a lever for an extended period of time), increased magnitude (e.g., pulling a lever more firmly), or decreased latency (e.g., pulling a lever more quickly following the antecedent stimulus).

Self awareness, self reflection, and self regulation are the three key tenets of the self-regulatory paradigm of human behavior.

Traditionally, reinforcements support self-regulation.

Although the result may have an impact on the behavior, behavior also need antecedents.Four different types of reinforcement exist.

Positive and negative reinforcement punishment, extinction, and reinforcemen. The use of a positive reinforcer is known as positive reinforcement. In order to encourage the antecedent behavior from the subject, negative reinforcement is the practice of removing anything undesirable from the subject's environment.
