Normally it is x ininput and f(x)=y
solve for y and replace y with f(x)

minus 5x from both sides
2y=10-5x
divide both sides by 2
y=5-2.5x
f(x)=5-2.5x

Divide (–15x5 – 16x4 + 84x3 – 17x2 – 9x – 15) by (x – 8/5) using synthetic division.
xz_007 [3.2K]
Synthetic division work with the coefficient of the given polynomial expression

We have
-15    -16   84   -17   -9   -15

and the divisor is:
x - ⁸/₅ = 0
x = ⁸/₅

Refer to the diagram below for the steps of synthetic division

Start by multiplying the first coefficient by the divisor, write the answer under the second coefficient, and then add the two values.

Repeat the steps until we use up all the remaining coefficients

The final values are the coefficients of the quotient and the last value is the reminder

Crazy boy [7]

Answer:

Ms. Day bought 5 blankets and 4 pillows.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x denotes number of blankets and y denotes number of pillows.

Blankets cost her $16 while pillows cost her $10 and Ms. Day spent a total of $120.

16x+10y=120

Divide this equation by 2.

8x+5y=60\,\,...(i)

Ms. Day bought 9 items.

x+y=9

Multiply this equation by 5.

5x+5y=45\,\,...(ii)

Subtract (ii) from (i)

3x=15\\x=5

Put x=5 in x+y=9

5+y=9\\y=9-5\\y=4

Therefore,

Ms. Day bought 5 blankets and 4 pillows.
