The right option is; a. mitosis

Mitosis is the part of the cell cycle in which the replicated chromosomes (genetic material) within the parent’s cell nucleus is separated into two daughter cells that are genetically identical to the parent. Mitosis involves growth and the replacement of damaged cells. Mitosis is divided into five stages which are; interphase, prophase, metaphase, anaphase and telophase (cytokinesis).

The epipelagic zone is filled with plankton. When this plantkon die, they begin to sink slowly to the bottom of the ocean. These plankton are food for small fish. These small fish are food for bigger fishes. This is how an ecosystem is sustained in the deep dark oceans.
