The Mexican independence movement was organized and confronted the Spanish exactly when the Spanish were the most vulnerable and significantly weakened. The Mexicans knew that in order to confront Spain, they needed to play wisely, be patient, and attack them when they are not at their best. Napoleon with his conquests in Europe did a very big service to the Mexican independence movement. Napoleon attacked Spain, so the focus of the Spanish was to fight in their homeland and to not be occupied by the French. This made their position in Mexico very weak, so the Mexican attacked them. The deteriorated and relatively small Spanish army in Mexico was not able to sustain the attacks, and the Mexicans won, declaring independence from the Spanish crown, and becoming a sovereign country in the New World.
