So, it is seen that the destruction of ozone can be catalyzed by NO or by Cl. It has been found that the activation energy for t

he reaction catalyzed by Cl is 2 kJ/mol and for the reaction catalyzed by NO is 12 kJ/mol. Which is the more effective catalyst? Why?

More effective catalyst would be the one with the lower activation energy, which means it is Cl.
Collisions of the reagents must occur during the chemical reaction and a certain minimum energy called the activation energy is necessary for that reaction. Adding a catalyst has a function to increase the rate of a reaction by lowering that activation energy.

The solubility of barium chromate, bacro4, is 2.81 × 10−3 g/l. calculate the solubility product of this compound.
Anastaziya [24]
Solubility product constants are values to describe the saturation of ionic compounds with low solubility. A saturated solution is when there is a dynamic equilibrium between the solute dissolved, the dissociated ions, the undissolved and the compound. It is calculated from the product of the ion concentration in the solution. For barium chromate, the dissociation would be as follows:

BaCrO4 = Ba^2+ + (CrO4)^2-

So, the expression for the solubility product would be:

Ksp = [Ba^2+] [(CrO4)^2-]

we let x = [BaCrO4] = [Ba2+] = [(CrO4)2-] = 2.81x10^-3 g/L ( 1 mol / 253.35 g ) = 1.11x10^-5

Ksp = x(x)
Ksp= x^2
Ksp = (1.11x10^-5)^2
Ksp = 1.23x10^-10

The Ksp of Barium chromate at that same temperature for the solubility would be 1.23x10^-10.

A chemical reaction produces formaldehyde, with a chemical formula of CH2O. Carbon is in Group 4A, oxygen is in Group 6A, and hy
Dahasolnce [82]

This problem is providing a comparison on the atoms forming formaldehyde, CH₂O, in terms of the groups they are in, C in group 4A, O in group 6A and H in group 1A, and it is asking for a description about the bonds once they are bonded in a formal Lewis dot structure.

In such a way, the attached file shows the Lewis dot structure, in which we can find two bonds between the two hydrogen atoms and the carbon one, and also, a double bond between carbon and oxygen.

The aforementioned is explained by bearing to mind the concept of octet, which states that elements in groups 4A, 5A, 6A and 7A are able to complete 8 valence electrons after bonding.

Thus, since carbon is in group 4A we infer it needs 4 more electrons to complete the octet, and that is achieved due to the 4 bonds it is having with the two hydrogen atoms and double bond with the oxygen atom.

In addition, since oxygen is in group 6A, we infer it needs two more electrons to complete its octet, which is attained via the double bond it has with the carbon atom. For hydrogen, however, it can complete one bond at maximum, because it is in group 1A, which means it can complete two valence electrons after bonding.
