Answer:

The area of rectangle(A) is given by:

A=lw                                                       ..... [1]

where, l is the length of the rectangle and w is the width of the rectangle respectively.

As per the statement:

A rectangle has a base of 2 yd and a height of 5 ft.

⇒w = 2 yd and l = 5 ft

Use conversion:

1 yard = 3 ft

then;

in 2 yard = 6 feet

⇒w = 6 feet

Substitute the given values in [1] we have;

A = 5 \times 6= 30 ft^2

Therefore, the area of rectangle is, 30 square ft.

The system of equations has infinite solutions.

Given to us,

  • y=-6x+2
  • -12x-2y=-4

Equation 2,

The value of y is already given in equation 1,

-12x-2y=-4

substituting the value of y in equation 2,

-12x-2(-6x+2)=-4\\-12x +12x-4=-4\\-12x+12x=-4+4\\0=0

The solution of the two equations is 0. Also, we can see that both the equations are in ratio.

Further, the image also shows that the line of the two equations are coinciding.

Hence, the system of equations has infinite solutions.

The length of a rectangle 4 yd is longer than its width. If the perimeter of the rectangle is 68 yd, find its length and width.
natulia [17]

w + 4

------------------------

l l

l l w

l l

------------------------

Perimeter would be the sum of all the sides so: (w+4) + w + (w+4) + w

Perimeter is 60 yards according to your problem so: (w+4) + w + (w+4) + w = 60 yds

1.Simplify/combine like terms:

w + 4 + w + w + 4 + w =

4w + 8 =

Now it's a 2-step algebra equation

4w + 8 = 60

2.Subtract 8 on both sides

4w = 56

3.Divide both sides by 4

w = 14
