The distance of Brandon’s bike in each interval of time can be represented in the attached Table 1.

Further explanation:

Given:

Brandon enters in to the bike race and he bikes 8\frac{1}{2}\text{ miles} in every \frac{1}{2}\text{ hour}.

Calculation:

It is given that in every \frac{1}{2}\text{ hour} Brandon bikes 8\frac{1}{2}\text{ miles}.

The distance 8\frac{1}{2}\text{ miles} is in the form of mixed fraction.

Therefore, the distance 8\frac{1}{2}\text{ miles} can be written in the form of decimal as follows:

\boxed{8\frac{1}{2}\text{ miles}\rightarrow8.5\text{ miles}}

Brandon bike's 8.5\text{ miles} in every \frac{1}{2}\text{ hour}.

We know that 1\text{ hour} is equivalent to 60\text{ minutes}.

So, 0.5\text{ hour} can be converted into minutes as follows:

\boxed{\begin{aligned}1\text{ hour}\rightarrow60\text{ minutes}\\0.5\text{ hour}\rightarrow30\text{ minutes}\end{aligned}}

Therefore, in every 30\text{ minutes} Brandon bikes 8.5\text{ miles}.

So, in next 30\text{ minutes} Brandon also bikes 8.5\text{ miles}.

In every 1\text{ hour} Brandon travels \boxed{8.5+8.5=17\text{ miles}}.

In every 1:30\text{ hour} Brandon travels \boxed{17+8.5=25.5\text{ miles}}.

Method 2:

Speed of Brandon’s bike can be calculated as ,

\boxed{\text{Speed}=\dfrac{d}{t}}        …… (1)

Here, d is the distance and t is the time.

The distance is 8.5\text{ miles} and time is 0.5\text{ hour}.

Now, substitute d=8.5 and t=0.5 in the equation (1) to obtain the speed as follows:

\begin{aligned}\text{Speed}&=\dfrac{8.5}{0.5}\\&=17\text{ miles per hour}\end{aligned}

Therefore, the rate of travelling of Brandon’s bike is 17\text{ miles per hour}.

The distance of Brandon’s bike in each interval of time can be represented in the attached Table 1.

12. Since there is no table given I will assume that what you want me to do is to show that Unit rate of Brandon’s biking. SO here are the data that we need: => 8 and ½ miles = 8.5 miles => ½ hour = .5 hours or 30 minutes Now, let’s solve for the unit rate => SO in every 30 minutes he bikes around 8.5 miles => Since 1 hour is equals to 30 minutes, simply multiply 8.5 by 2 => 8.5 * 2 = 17miles => 17 miles / hour

Find the equation of the line passing through the point (–1, 0) and parallel to the line y = –1∕2x + 3∕7
PilotLPTM [1.2K]

Answer:

y = -1/2x - 1/2

Step-by-step explanation:

Slope-Intercept Form: y = mx + b

m - slope

b - y-intercept

Step 1: Define

y = -1/2x + 3/7

Point (-1, 0)

Step 2: Find parallel line

<em>Parallel lines have the same slope as the original but different y-intercepts.</em>

<em>m</em> = -1/2

y = -1/2x + b

0 = -1/2(-1) + b

0 = 1/2 + b

b = -1/2

Step 3: Write parallel line

y = -1/2x - 1/2

A rectangle has vertices (8, 6), (4, 6), (8, −4), and (4, −4). What are the coordinates after dilating from the origin by a scal
Mama L [17]

Answer: (12,9), (6,9), (12,-6) and (6,-6)

Step-by-step explanation:

Given: The coordinates of the original rectangle are  (8, 6), (4, 6), (8, −4), and (4, −4).  We know that the coordinates of the image after dilation  from the origin by a scale factor of k is given by:_

(xy)\rightarrow(kx,ky)

Then, the coordinates of the image after dilation from the origin by a scale factor of 1.5 are given by:_

(8, 6)→(8\times1.5,6\times1.5)=(12,9)

(4, 6)→(4\times1.5,6\times1.5)=(6,9)

(8, −4) →(8\times1.5,-4\times1.5)=(12,-6)

(4, −4)→(4\times1.5,-4\times1.5)=(6,-6)

Hence, the coordinates of the image after dilation from the origin by a scale factor of 1.5 are (12,9), (6,9), (12,-6) and (6,-6).

2(x-5)=3(x+7) Show the process, please.
chubhunter [2.5K]

Answer:

-31

Step-by-step explanation:

(2×x) - (2×5) = (3×x) + (3×7)

2x-10 = 3x+21

2x-3x = 21+10

-x = 31

therefore, x = -31

On a 15 hour trip, Rob drove 35% of the time and Mark drove the remainder of the time. How many hours did Mark drive? Explain 9.
Zigmanuir [339]

Answer:

9.75 hours

Step-by-step explanation:

If Rob drove 35% of the time and Mark drove the remainder of the time, the total is 100 %

100-35 = 65

so Mark drove 65% of the time

The total time driven was 15 hours, so we multiply the total time driven by the percentage of time that Mark drove to find the number of hours that Mark drove.

15 * 65%

15*.65

9.75 hours
