Answer:

t(@95%) = 75 s

Explanation:

Given:

Time (s)         0          20           40           60            80            100            120

emf  (mV)     2.5        3.8          4.5          4.8           4.9             5.0            5.0

Find:

95 % response time t?

Solution:

To formulate the 95% response time t we need to compute the 95% emf value:

                             emf = emf_o + 0.95*(emf_ss - emf_o)

where,

                              emf_o = 2.5 mV and emf_ss = 5.0 V

                              emf = 2.5 + 0.95*(5.0 - 2.5)

                              emf = 4.875 mV @ 95%

We can see that the 95% response lies in the range of 60 s < t < 80. To determine the time for this response we use interpolation for the above interval:

                              t = m*emf + C          (linear interpolation)

where,

                              m:slope and C: t intercept are constants

                              m = ( 80 - 60 ) / (4.9 - 4.8 ) = 200

                              C = 80 - 200*4.9 = -900 s

                              t(4.875) = 200*4.875 - 900

                               t(@95%) = 75 s

Answer: The time taken to reach 95% of the response is t = 75 s.

What is the difference between a cost and a benefit?
goblinko [34]

Answer:

A cost is something you have to give up or sacrifice and a benefit is something that is gained or is helpful.

Explanation:

In a cost-benefit analysis of a system, an engineer is to simply look at the requirements for the system and determine the costs to build the system, both in financial value and energy value.  Additionally, the engineer needs to determine the benefits that would come from choosing a particular path of cost.  If the benefits outweigh the cost for the project, then the solution is accepted.  Else, the cost outweighs the benefit and the solution is rejected.

Which of the following is not a reason to give yourself extra "cushion" when driving?
damaskus [11]

Answer:

The question is incomplete, the complete question is:

Which of the following is not a reason to give yourself extra "cushion" when driving?

A. Poor visibility B. Poor road conditions C. Inclement weather D. None of these.

The correct answer is D. None of these.

Explanation:

All the options are not reasons to give yourself an extra cushion when driving, rather they are reasons that are not favorable to driving at all.

A cushion is a certain amount of distance you are supposed to keep between you and the car in front of you to allow easy maneuvering in any condition.

A typical cushion is 3 seconds between you and the car in front of you, in less than perfect conditions like bad weather or poor road conditions an additional second must be added to it.
