For this case we have that the distance that it is necessary to cross to arrive at the lake is of 216 miles.

If the family went there with an average of \frac {48 \ mi} {h}

To know the time it took me to travel 216 miles, we make a rule of three:

Let "x" be the time spent going to the lake:

48 miles -------------> 1 h

216 miles -----------> x

x = \frac {216 * 1} {48} = 4.5\ hours

Thus, to reach the lake they had to travel 4.5 hours.

Now, back home they averaged \frac {54 \ mi} {h}

To know how much time they used back home, we make a rule of three (to return also travel 216 miles):

Let "y" be the time spent returning home:

54 miles -------------> 1 h

216 miles -----------> y

y = \frac {216 * 1} {54} = 4\ hours

Thus, the total time is given by:

t = 4.5 + 4\\t = 8.5

Answer:

8.5 hours

let a,b,c,d be four integers (not necessarily distinct) in the set {1,2,3,4,5}. the no. of polynomials x^4+ax^3+bx^2+cx+d which
Eddi Din [679]
By either long or synthetic division, it's easy to show that

\dfrac{x^4+ax^3+bx^2+cx+d}{x+1}=x^3+(a-1)x^2+(-a+b+1)x+(a-b+c-1)-\dfrac{a-b+c-d-1}{x+1}

The quartic will be exactly divisible by x+1 when the numerator of the remainder term vanishes, or for those values of a,b,c,d such that

a-b+c-d-1=0

I'm not sure how to count the number of solutions (software tells me it should be 80), but hopefully this is a helpful push in the right direction.

How do we identify the slope and the y-intercept for each of the function representations?
Gelneren [198K]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

for y intercept

we calculate f(0) and the value is y intercept

for the slope we have 2 points (x1,y1)  and (x2,y2)

the slope is (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)
