How to multiply whole numbers by fractions

Mathematics

Answer:

Any whole number is over one...so if the whole number was 5 it would be \frac{5}{1} bkuz the line in between the numerator and denominator is a dividing sign and 5 divided by 1 is 5

So you put the whole number whatever it is over 1 then multiply that by the fraction

Example:

6 x \frac{3}{4} is the same as saying \frac{6}{1} x \frac{3}{4} which equals \frac{18}{4} because 6 times 3 equals 18 and 4 times 1 equals 4

Now you need to simplify or divide...

So, \frac{18}{4} is the same as 4 \frac{2}{4} or 4\frac{1}{2} bkuz 4 goes into 18 4 and a half times

Sati [7]

Year 3 = 2s

Year 2 = 3 + x

Year 1 = x

s = second year

x = first year

2s = 26

s = 13

The second year they made 13 million

13 - 3 = 10

x = 10

They made 10 million the first year.

Two side lengths of a triangle are given as 9 cm and 5 cm. What could be the length of its third side? 3cm
disa [49]

The length of the third side could be 5 cm ⇒ 3rd answer

Step-by-step explanation:

There is a fact in any triangle, that the sum of the lengths of the

smallest two sides of a triangle must be greater then the length of

the largest side

The sum of smallest 2 sides > the 3rd side

So to solve the problem

1. Chose the third side from the answer

2. Add the lengths of the two smallest side

3. Compare between the sum and the 3rd side

∵ The length of the two sides of a triangle are 9 cm and 5 cm

- If the third side is 3 cm

∵ 3 and 5 are the smallest side

∵ 3 + 5 = 8

∵ 8 < 9

∴ The sum of the smallest two sides < the 3rd side

∴ 3 cm can not be the length of the 3rd side

- If the third side is 4 cm

∵ 4 and 5 are the smallest side

∵ 4 + 5 = 9

∵ 9 = 9

∴ The sum of the smallest two sides = the 3rd side

∴ 4 cm can not be the length of the 3rd side

- If the third side is 5 cm

∵ 5 and 5 are the smallest side

∵ 5 + 5 = 10

∵ 10 > 9

∴ The sum of the smallest two sides > the 3rd side

∴ 5 cm can be the length of the 3rd side

- If the third side is 14 cm

∵ 5 and 9 are the smallest side

∵ 5 + 9 = 14

∵ 14 = 14

∴ The sum of the smallest two sides = the 3rd side

∴ 14 cm can not be the length of the 3rd side

The length of the third side could be 5 cm
