The Dark phase, also known as biosynthetic or assimilatory of photosynthesis, is a set of independent reactions of light, which can occur both day and night, which convert carbon dioxide and other compounds into glucose. These reactions, unlike the light reactions, do not require light to occur. These reactions take the products of the light phase and perform more chemical processes on them.
Photosynthesis does not occur during the night. For photosynthesis to take place, water, carbon dioxide and sunlight are necessary, the last of which is missing. Photosynthesis is the process by which green plants manufacture their own nutrition in their green leaves.
