Farmer toms chickens and sheep are all in a jumble. he counts 48 heads and 134 legs, how many sheep does he have?
Yanka [14]
Umm chickens have 2 legs and sheep's have 4 I think you have to divide let's see, they were all chickens there would be 96 legs we would be 38 legs short but we want 134 legs so start replacing sheep with chickens. Everytime  you replace a sheep with a chicken you get 2 more legs keep on doing that until you get a good solution. I replaced 19 sheep with chickensand that left me with 19 sheep 48-19=29. 19 sheep with 4 legs gives me 76 legs, 29 chickens with 2 legs gives me 58 legs, add 76 with 58 and i have 134 legs so there are:
19 sheep
29 chickens
sorry if this didn't make sense I tried my best.
