The process of cloning effectively involves taking a cell from your body and turning it back into an embryo. The embryo would then either develop into a human being as has been proposed by various scientists around the world and which is currently banned, or it would be turned into a stem cell.

 I believe that the answer is that a chromatid is one half of a replicated chromosome, whereas chromosome consist of DNA wrapped around proteins in a highly organized manner.  A chromosome is made up of two chromatids which are joined by the centromere. The chromatids separate from each other during mitosis to form two new chromosomes. The DNA making up a chromosome is dispersed as chromatin.
