Brooke needs 360 milliliters of a 53% acid solution for a chemistry experiment. She has two acid solutions, A and B, that can be

mixed together to form the solution. Solution A is 50% acid, and Solution B is 60% acid. How much of each solution should she use to create the mixture?
She should use ____ milliliters of Solution A.

Let A and B be the mL of each solution needed.

quantity equation
A + B = 360
concentration equation
0.5A + 0.6B = 0.53(360)

use A = 360 - B for substitution in the other equation.

0.5(360 - B) + 0.6B = 190.8
180 - 0.5B + 0.6B = 190.8
180 + 0.1B = 190.8
0.1B = 190.8 - 180
0.1B = 10.8
B = 10.8/0.1
B = 108 mL

then A+B = 360
A + 108 = 360
A = 360 - 108
A = 252 mL

Simplify the trigonometric expression.
Natasha_Volkova [10]
First we are going to find the common denominator of both fractions. To do that, we are going to multiply their denominators:
(1+sin \alpha )(1-sin \alpha )=1-sin^2 \alpha

Now we can rewrite our expression using the common denominator:
\frac{1-sin \alpha }{1-sin^2 \alpha } + \frac{1+sin \alpha }{1-sin^2 \alpha} = \frac{2}{1-sin^2 \alpha}

Finally, we can use the trig identities: 1-sin^2 \alpha =cos^2 \alpha and sec \alpha = \frac{1}{cos \alpha } to simplify our trig expression:
\frac{2}{cos^2\alpha}=2sec^2 \alpha

We can conclude that the correct answer is the fourth one.

Backgammon is a board game for two players in which the playing pieces are moved according to the roll of two dice. players win
Ivahew [28]

The rolls of the dice are independent, i.e. the outcome of the second die doesn't depend in any way on the outcome of the first die.

In cases like this, the probability of two events happening one after the other is the multiplication of the probabilities of the two events.

So, the probability of rolling two 6s is the multiplication of the probabilities of rolling a six with the first die, and another six with the second:

P(\text{rolling two 6s}) = P(\text{rolling a 6}) \cdot P(\text{rolling a 6}) = \dfrac{1}{6} \cdot \dfrac{1}{6}  = \dfrac{1}{36}

Similarly,

P(\text{rolling two 3s}) = P(\text{rolling a 3}) \cdot P(\text{rolling a 3}) = \dfrac{1}{6} \cdot \dfrac{1}{6}  = \dfrac{1}{36}

Actually, you can see that the probability of rolling any ordered couple is always 1/36, since the probability of rolling any number on both dice is 1/6:

P(\text{rolling any ordered couple}) = P(\text{rolling the first number}) \cdot P(\text{rolling the second number}) = \dfrac{1}{6} \cdot \dfrac{1}{6}  = \dfrac{1}{36}
