Answer:

ascular endothelial cells are an established source of thrombospondin 1 (TSP1), a multifunctional extracellular matrix molecule. TSP1 appears to play an important role in modulating endothelial cell functions such as proliferation, migration, and capillary morphogenesis. In addition, TSP1 has recently been reported to potently inhibit angiogenesis both in vitro and in vivo. To better understand the mechanism underlying the antiangiogenic property of TSP1, endogenous TSP1 production was disrupted in bovine aortic endothelial cells (BAEC) by stable transfection with a vector expressing a TSP1 antisense RNA. Stable transfectants in which the antisense vector caused a decrease in TSP1 production were assayed for their ability to form capillary-like cords on gelled basement membrane matrix and for their responsiveness to the angiogenic/chemotactic mediator basic fibroblast growth factor. BAEC in which TSP1 production was disrupted exhibited a ten-fold increase over control BAEC in chemotactic activity to basic fibroblast growth factor and a twofold increase over control cells in the number of capillary-like cords that formed on gelled basement membrane matrix. Thus, the down-regulation of endogenous TSP1 appears to facilitate endothelial cell chemotaxis and capillary morphogenesis. These studies suggest that the modulation of TSP1 production is an important component of the angiogenic response, and support the idea that soluble TSP1 inhibits angiogenesis by interfering with endothelial cell chemotaxis and capillary formation.

What is the active functional group on the drug that is most responsible for its potency? How does artemisinin achieve selectivi
AleksAgata [21]

Answer:

The active functional group of a drug is that one that has the most prominent quality of adherence to the corresponding group on the target site and this selective binding of the group gave the property of targeted therapy and action. The pharmacophore modelling is done to ensure the design success of a drug but real life circumstances are mostly unpredictable. By this specific targeted action a drug acquires the property of differentiating between healthy and infected cells. Infected cells always have something different in their functional group expression as compare the the healthy cells. This helps the drug to differentiate between them.

This knot of coiled capillaries, found in the kidneys, forms the filtrate. It is the __________.

Glomerulus

The high fluid pressure inside the arteries causes the glomerulosa (capillary bed) in the glomerular capsule to produce filtrate.)

What is Glomerulus ?

Blood enters the glomerulus, a collection of small blood veins, as it enters each nephron. Smaller molecules, wastes, and fluid—mostly water—can pass through the glomerulus' thin walls and into the tubule.

 • Proteins and blood cells, which are larger molecules, remain in the blood vessel.
 • The glomerulus' primary job is to filter plasma to create glomerular filtrate, which travels the full length of the nephron tubule before converting to urine. Water, glucose, salts, and urea are all components of the glomerular filtrate.

A 2-year-old is diagnosed with atopic dermatitis (eczema).
Pani-rosa [81]

Answer:

The nurse has taught the parents the following instructions:

 • Apply emollient immediately after a bath .
 • Give tepid baths with mild soap .
 • Keep child's nails well-trimmed

Explanation:

Atopic dermatitis (eczema):

It is defined as a condition that results in the inflammation, redness and itchiness of the skin. It is a chronic condition and usually children suffer from it. It is recommended to keep your skin moisturized by using the creams or ointments prescribed by the doctor.

In our case, the nurse has given the instruction to parents to apply the emollient immediately after the bath to avoid the dryness of skin otherwise it can cause the itchiness of the skin. Similarly mild soap also keep your skin soft and fresh as the ingredients like Aloe Vera, olive oil etc. The trimmed nails prevent you to make rashes on your skin because you can make new rashes on skin in the case of itching.
