Because living organisms need water to survive.All oxygen-dependent organisms need water to aid in the respiration process. Some organisms, such as fish, can only breathe in water. Other organisms require water to break down food molecules or generate energy during the respiration process. I hope this helps <3

It unzips the double helix structure by breaking the hydrogen bonds.

Explanation:

Basically, the enzyme runs down the center of the double helix separating the  strands like a zipper so other enzymes needed for DNA replication such as DNA polymerase and topo-isomerase can come and add complimentary bases to the separated strands.
