Psychoneuroimmunology is a study of interactions which takes place between behavioral, neural, endocrine and immune process.The communication of brain takes place with immune system via nervous and neuroendocrine activity.It is the study of the effects of mind on health and resistance to disease. When we get stressed up antigen's fighting ability  also gets reduced down in a case of immune system. That's why our susceptibility of infections get increased. The effectiveness of immune system also gets compromised because of corticosteroids which are known as stress hormones.There is lowering in the number of lymphocytes.

There are 5 stages of stress i.e. fight or flight, damage control, recovery, adaptation and burn-out.The other symptoms of weak immune system are :

  • Swelling of internal organs
  • Issues with digestion includes loss of appetite, abdominal cramps and diarrhoea
  • Growth and developmental delays in children & infants
  • Blood abnormalities like anemia

Coping involves the use of one's own conscious efforts for the problem solving in order to avoid any stress conflict or to minimise and mastering up of stress or conflict.

4 types of coping strategy for stress are as follows:

  • Appraisal focused coping
  • Problem focused coping
  • Emotion focused coping
  • Occupational focused coping

Healthy ways for the strengthening of immune system:

  • Avoid smoking
  • Maintain a healthy weight
  • Regular exercise
  • Take more fresh fruits and vegetables
  • Adequate sleep
  • Steps must be taken to avoid infections such as washing of hands and thoroughly cooking of meats

Correct answer: B Resting heart rate is the number of times the heart beats per minute when te body is at rest. It is usually somewhere between 60 and 100 beats per minute for the average adult.  In order to calculate the target heat rate, you should calculate heart rate reserve (HRR) which is resting heart rate subtracted from your maximum heart rate. Then you should m ultiply your HRR by 0.7 (70 percent) and add your resting heart rate to this number and  ultiply your HRR by 0.85 (85 percent) and add your resting heart rate to this number.
