You INCORRECTLY perform an acid-fast stain on a smear from a mixed culture of Mycobacterium smegmatis (acid-fast) cells and Stap

hylococcus aureus (non-acid-fast) cells. Your mistake is that you forget to use methylene blue during the procedure. If you viewed this slide with a microscope, what would each cell type look like?

Answer:

In acid-fast staining, carbon fuchsin is used as a primary stain which dissolves the mycolic acid present in the cell wall of Mycobacterium smegmatis and penetrates through it which results in staining Mycobacterium red.

Staphylococcus aureus cell wall does not contain mycolic acid so carbon fuchsin does not penetrate its cell wall, therefore, it becomes colorless after destaining with acid alcohol.

After destaining step methylene blue is added to stain non-acid-fast bacteria blue. So if I mistakenly forgot to use methylene blue during the procedure Mycobacterium smegmatis will appear red due to carbon fuchsin present in their cell wall and Staphylococcus aureus will appear colorless because it is destained.

Name the possible ways that diseases are spread. Describe how this happens in communities.
Ilia_Sergeevich [38]
Some ways in which communicable diseases spread are by: physical contact with an infected person, such as through touch (staphylococcus), sexual intercourse (gonorrhea, HIV), fecal/oral transmission (hepatitis A), or droplets (influenza, TB) travel through the air, such as tuberculosis or measles.

Finding variables in the following Students measured the temperature of the water at different depths in Lake Skywalker and foun
Natasha2012 [34]

The independent variable is the one that causes an effect on the dependent variable. In this case, the independent variable is depth. Different depths lead to a variation in temperature. 2) depths.

What are de dependent and independent variables?

 • Independent variables are those modified or changed by the researcher to study how this change affects another variable and hence the results.

This variable is not affected by any other one but influences or causes a reaction in other variables.

 • The dependent variable is the one influenced by the independent variable, and is affected by any change on this last one.

Its response might be either directly proportional or inversely proportional to the change in the independent variable.

Now let us answer the question.

The aim of the study was probably to analyze how temperature changed with depth.

So, according to this, depth influenced on the temperatureof water.

 • The independent influencing variable is depth.
 • The dependent affected variable is water temperature.

The correct option is 2. depths.

Answer: Thalamus

Explanation:

The thalamus part of the brain is known as the relay station for all the sensory information. This information can be any sought of smell, light, taste et cetera.

It is relayed further via thalamus. Myelinated fiber bundle originates from the lateral surface of thalamus and it terminates at the cerebral cortex.

It is a relay station for the information from brainstem, spinal cord and cerebrum towards the cortex.
