1: There are four stages of meiosis including prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase. In the prophase phase (first stage) the chromosomes becomes visible as paired chromatids. When this happens the nuclear envelope disappears. During metaphase (second stage) the chromosomes attach to the spindle fibers. Throughout anaphase (third phase) the chromosomes move to opposite sides of the spindle fibers. While in telophase (fourth stage) two nuclei form by chromosomes and chromatids moving to the opposite ends of the cell.

2: The cells that outcome from meiosis are haploid daughter cells.

3: Haploid.

4: The similarities of meiosis and mitosis are that they both outcome with daughter from a parent cell. Differences are that mitosis has one round of genetic separation and cellular division while meiosis has two. In meiosis it creates daughter cells that aren’t identical.

Sexual reproduction combines genetics from two parents while asexual reproduction have offspring exactly the same as the genetics of the parent.

Asexual reproduction has the advantage of quicker reproducing. Sexual reproduction have all different offspring that can adapt to many different environments.

Water and minerals can follow three pathways to the vascular tissue of the root. Describe the three pathways.
Sunny_sXe [5.5K]
The answer is the apoplast, the symplast, and the transmembrane pathway.

1. The apoplast pathway occurs through cell walls and space between cells. So, water does not cross any cell membrane as it travels this pathway.

2. The symplast pathway occurs through the continuum of cytoplasm. So, water travels through plasmodesmata which connect cells.

3. The transmembrane pathway occurs across cell membranes. So, water enters the cell on one side of the membrane and exits on the other.

Which of the following molecules found in skeletal muscle cells binds oxygen that can later be used during aerobic metabolism to
Blizzard [7]

Answer: a.myoglobin

Explanation:

Myoglobin (Mb) and Hemoglobin (Hb) are heme proteins and are part of the family of globular proteins. These proteins are characterized by having the spherical or globular wrapped polypeptide chain having various types of secondary structures. Myoglobin is an extremely compact protein found in muscular cells of vertebrate animals, having as their main function the storage and it also facilitates the transport of oxygen in the muscles. This protein is found in the cardiac muscle and skeletal muscle of the mammals and increases the effective solubility of oxygen in the muscle by acting as an oxygen reservoir and facilitating the diffusion of O2 from the capillaries blood to the mitochondria.
