Your mistake was in this part  9 x 1/100 . After the decimal point the place value starts with tenths so you should write 9 x 1/10 .

Place values

Before the decimal point

3 ones = 3 x 1

0 tens = 0 x 10

1 hundreds = 1 x 100

After the decimal point

9 tenths = 9 x 1/10

0 hundredths = 0 x 1/100

3 thousandths= 3 x 1/1000

1 x 100 + 0 x 10 + 3 x 1 + 9 x 1/10 + 0 x 1/100 + 3 x 1/1000

  100     +    0     +   3    +    0.9      +     0        +    0.003

           100         + 3      +          0.9                +     0.003 =  103.903

Answer:

103.903=100+3\times1+9\times \frac{1}{10}+3\times \frac{1}{1000}

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : Alex wrote 103.903 in expanded form as

100+3\times1+9\times \frac{1}{100}+3\times \frac{1}{1000}

To find : Explain his mistake then tell how to correct it ?

Solution :

The Alex expansion of the number is not correct as 9 is at tenths place so 9 is multiply by 1 by 10 not 1 by 100.

The correct expanded form of the number 103.903 is

103.903=1\times 100+0\times 10+3\times1+9\times \frac{1}{10}+0\times \frac{1}{100}+3\times \frac{1}{1000}

or 103.903=100+3\times1+9\times \frac{1}{10}+3\times \frac{1}{1000}

A square and a rectangle have the same perimeter is the length of the side of the square is 4X minusone the score of the rectang
Assoli18 [71]

Square Perimeter = 4(4x-1)

Rectangle Perimeter = 2(2x+1) + 2(x+2)

Square Perimeter = Rectangle Perimeter

4(4x-1) = 2(2x+1) + 2(x+2)

16x - 4 = 4x + 2 + 2x + 4

16x - 4 = 6x + 6

-6x +4 -6x +4

10x = 10

x = 1

X:y=5:3 and x+y=56 work out the value of x-y
Vladimir79 [104]

x - y = 14

given the ratio x : y = 5 : 3

then let x = 5x and y = 3x, hence equation can be expressed as

5x + 3x = 56

8x = 56 ( divide both sides by 8 )

x = 7

Hence x = 5 × 7 = 35 and y = 3 × 7 = 21

Thus x - y = 35 - 21 = 14
