Answer:

817.02 x 10⁻⁶ m

Explanation:

L = length of the aluminum wire = 39.0 m

R = Resistance of the wire = 2.10 Ω

ρ = Resistivity of aluminum wire = 2.82 x 10⁻⁸ Ω·m

A = area of cross-section of wire

Resistance of the wire is given as

R = \frac{\rho L}{A}

2.10 = \frac{(2.82\times 10^{-8}) (39)}{A}

A = 5.24 x 10⁻⁷ m²

d = diameter of the wire

Area of cross-section of wire is given as

A = (0.25) πd²

5.24 x 10⁻⁷ = (0.25) (3.14) d²

d = 817.02 x 10⁻⁶ m

Answer:

a ) = 381.48 J

b )=  84.25 cm

Explanation:

Kinetic energy of the runner

= 1/2 m v²

= .5 x 66 x 3.4²

= 381.48 J

The final kinetic energy of the runner is zero .

Loss of mechanical energy

= 381.48 J

This  loss in  mechanical energy is due to action of frictional force .

Let s be the distance of slide

deceleration due to frictional force

= μmg/m

.7 x 66 x 9.8 / 66

a = - 6.86 m s⁻¹

v² = u² - 2 a s

0 = 3.4² - 2x6.86 s

s = 3.4² / 2x6.86

= .8425 m

Can an object have both kinetic energy and gravitational potential energy? Explain.
konstantin123 [22]
Yes, for example a plain is moving so it has kinetic energy, it is also high above the ground so it has gravitational potential energy

A 10 Ω resistor is connected to a 120-V ac power supply. What is the peak current through the resistor?
11111nata11111 [884]

Answer:

Peak current = 16.9 A

Explanation:

Given that

RMS voltage = 120 Volts

V_{rms} = 120 V

AC is connected across resistance

R = 10 ohm

now by ohm's law

V = i R

120 = i (10)

i_{rms} = \frac{120}{10} = 12 A

now peak value of current will be given as

i_{peak} = \sqrt{2} i_{rms}

i_{peak} = \sqrt2 (12) = 16.9 A
