Ivan the Great was the great prince of Moscow and the first to adopt the title of "great prince of all Russia." He is sometimes referred to as the "unifier of Russian lands," since he quadrupled his territory and proclaimed Moscow as the Third Rome. He built the Moscow Kremlin and created institutions to ensure autocracy. He was also the protagonist of the longest reign in the history of Russia.
