There are two (equivalent) formulas for the circumference of a circle:

C = 2 pi r, where r is the radius of the circle

C = pi d, where d is the diameter of the circle

In this particular problem, however, we're dealing with arc length. For the shown central angle "theta" = 160 degrees, the arc length is 42 cm.
Knowing this enables us to calculate the radius or diameter of the circle.

Arc length = s = (radius) (central angle, in radians, not degrees)

First, convert 160 degrees to radians: 160 deg pi rad
                                                              ----------- * ------------ = (8/9) pi rad
                                                                    1 180 deg

Then 42 cm = r *(8/9) pi rad

Solve for the radius (r): divide 42 cm by (8/9) pi rad

Then use the formula for circumference introduced earlier:

C= 2 pi r                   Substitute [42 cm / ( (8/9) pi rad )] for r.

Simplify your result, and you will then have the circumference, C, in cm.

The author uses paragraph 12 to create tension because of D.The author increases a feeling of discomfort with descriptions of conflict and disagreement.

What is tension in storytelling?

Tension is a storytelling technique to ensure that readers do not drop a novel but keep readers engaged.

Creating tension helps the readers of a story to emotionally invest in the story, the characters, and the scenes.

Some authors use the following strategies to create tension?

  • Raising the stakes.
  • Creating crucial conflicts.
  • Making the reader ask questions.
  • Allowing tension to ebb and flow.
  • Creating secondary sources of tension.
  • Creating internal and external conflicts.
  • Unfolding the story in a shorter space of time.
  • Create engaging characters with opposing goals.

Thus, the author increases a feeling of discomfort with descriptions of conflict and disagreement.

Suppose planet A's diameter is approximately 8 times planet B's and both bodies are spheres. What is the ratio of their volumes?
lana [24]

Answer:

The ratio of planet B's volume to planet A's volume is 1:512 or 1/512

Step-by-step explanation:

Volume of sphere = 4/3 π r^3

r = d/2

Radius of palnet A = 8/2 = 4

Radius of planet B = 1/2

Since 4/3 π is same in both volumes so, they cancel out when finding ratio.

Now ratio depends on radius cube of both planets

Volume of Planet B : Volume of Planet A

4/3 π(1/2)^3 : 4/3 π(4)^3

Cancelling 4/3 π on both sides

1/8 : 64

Multiply 8 on both sides

1 : 512

So, The ratio of planet B's volume to planet A's volume is 1:512 or 1/512
