Regardless of whether the kid is popular or not, their inclination to commit crimes will have to do with their peers and their own personal morals. If a kid is popular, it doesn't mean he or she doesn't have time to commit a crime - they might do so if they want to remain popular (if their group wants them to prove themselves) or they might not do it if they don't want to - but it doesn't have much to do with their lack of time.
