How can exponential and logarithmic functions be combined?

Mathematics

It really depends on the question and what you want to solve. An exponential function can be written as y = x^2 and if you are solving for y then it will be log(base x) y = 2.

More Examples:
3x = 15
(log both sides with base of 3)
log(3)3x = log(3)15
since log(3)3 = 1 then,
(1)x = log(3)15
x = log 15 / log 3
= 2.465

stira [4]

Answer:

Nina practiced the viola for 11.25 hours last week.

Step-by-step explanation:

Juan practiced the violin for 9 hours last week. For each 3 hours that he practices the violin, he practices 2.5 hours of cello. So

3h violin - 2.5h cello

9h violin - xh cello

3x = 9*2.5

x = 7.5

He practiced 7.5 hours of cello, the same as Nina.

For every 3 hours Nina spends practicing the viola she practices the cello for 2 hours. So:

3h viola - 2h cello

xh viola - 7.5h cello

2x = 3*7.5

x = 7.5*1.5

x = 11.25

Nina practiced the viola for 11.25 hours last week.

Anna71 [15]

Answer:

\\ c^2 = a^2 + b^2 [1]

Usando [1] y despejando a, tenemos:

\\ c^2 = a^2 + b^2

\\ c^2 - b^2 = a^2 + b^2 - b^2

\\ c^2 - b^2 = a^2 + 0

\\ c^2 - b^2 = a^2

Luego

\\ a^2 = c^2 - b^2

\\ \sqrt{a^2} = \sqrt{c^2 - b^2}

Entonces

\\ a = \sqrt{c^2 - b^2}

Asimismo, tenemos que \\ c = 65cm y \\ b = 25cm

Entonces,

\\ a = \sqrt{65^2 - 25^2}

\\ a = \sqrt{4225 - 625}

\\ a = \sqrt{3600}

\\ a = 60cm
