CONFLICT OF ROLES

It occurs when there are demands, demands on the job, which are inconsistent or incompatible with each other to perform such work.
Role conflict has been shown to be related to dissatisfaction, decreased involvement with work, and impaired performance. Among the industrial workers submitted to some conflict of roles, a greater tension has been found to cause them work, less satisfaction with it and less confidence in the organization.
The role conflict situation can originate in different ways. It is understood that a person will suffer a conflict of roles if he perceives that one or more persons or groups of the organization, with whom he is linked (within a system of roles), have divergent expectations on what to do and/or how to behave, that they are incompatible or incongruent with each other or with the accomplishment of the work. In general, people seek to play roles that are congruent with their system of beliefs and values. When this is not achieved, personal conflicts may arise and situations that are experienced as a source of great tension for the person (ROLE TENSION) who bears them with great emotional cost by having to go over their value system, since the change of job is not easy given the situation of the labor market.
