For the mass m, attached to a spring, to move in a circle centripetal force and restoring force of the spring must be equal. Centripetal force is given with this formula:
F_c=\frac{mv^2}{r}=\frac{mw^2r^2}{r}=mw^2r
Restoring force only occurs if the spring is stretched. If L is the length of unstretched spring we have the following formula for restoring force:
F=k(r-L)
r is the length of a circle that mass m is traveling along.
As said above, these two forces have to be equal:
F=k(r-L)=mw^2r
We solve for r:
F=k(r-L)=mw^2r\\
kr-kL=mw^2r\\
mw^2r-kr=-kL\\
r(mw^2-k)=-kL\\
r=\frac{-kL}{mw^2-k}\\
r(w)=\frac{kL}{k-mw^2}

r(w) will go to infinity when denominator is equal to zero:
k-mw^2=0\\
k=mw^2\\
w^2=\frac{k}{m}\\
w_{crit}=\sqrt{\frac{k}{m}}
Please keep in mind that Hooke's law has it's limitations, and before we reach our critial value of angular velocity spring will be strecthed to a point where Hooke's law does not aply anymore.

Dominik [7]

Answer:

The primary reason of seeing the cracker burst and hearing the sound later is because the speed of sound and light. Speed of light is in the vicinity of 3*10^8m,/ sec while the speed of sound is at a distance of 332m/sec. It is similar to lightning that strikes before the sound.

What type of volcano only ever has quiet eruptions?
77julia77 [94]
In contrast to quiet eruptions, other volcanoes erupt explosively. Mount St. Helens, for instance, spewed lava high in the air when it erupted. Two things control the type of eruption: how much water vapor and other gasses are in the magma and whether the magma is basaltic or granitic. Basaltic magma tends to ooze out gently in a thin, quiet eruption, while granitic magma is thicker and becomes trapped inside the volcano's vents. Once the pressure grows enough to force out the magma, it explodes.

Advocard [28]

Explanation:

Cheetahs can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 70 miles per hour. While they are the fastest land animal in the world, they can only maintain their speed for only 20 to 30 seconds.

A boy on a bicycle increases his velocity from 5 m/s to 20 m/s in 10
Stolb23 [73]

Answer:

1.5 m/s2

Explanation:

To solve this problem, you need to use the first kinematic equation:

v = v_{0} +a(t)

First, you plug into the equation:

20 = 5 + (a)(10)

and solve for the given equation!

1.5 m/s2
