a)express x^2+12x+11 in the form (x+p)^2+q b)A curve has equation y=x^2+12x+11. What are the co-ordinates of the turning point o
sveticcg [70]

a) (x+6)^2-25

b) (-6, -25)

Step-by-step explanation:

Perfect square trinomial! If you have 12x, divide by two and get 6, so we have (x+6)^2+q. Then solve for q. You get q as -25.

For b, we just take the vertex from vertex form. We get x+6=0 so x=-6, and q = -25, so the answer is (-6, -25).

Hope that helped,

Can u guys PLEASE ANSWER this question ASAP.
qwelly [4]

Answer:

x = -14

Step-by-step explanation:

The expression to write in this problem is:

"the sum of x and 12 equals the sum of half of x and 5"

We have:

- The sum of x and 12 is: x+12

- The sum of half of x and 5 is: \frac{1}{2}x+5

So, the equation to write in this problem is

x+12=\frac{1}{2}x+5

We solve it as follows:

1) First, we subtract \frac{1}{2}x from both sides, and we get

x-\frac{1}{2}x+12=\frac{1}{2}x-\frac{1}{2}x+5\\\frac{1}{2}x+12=5

2) Then, we subtract 12 from both sides:

\frac{1}{2}x+12-12=5-12\\\frac{1}{2}x=-7

3) Now we multiply both sides by 2:

\frac{1}{2}x\cdot 2=-7\cdot 2\\x=-14

So, this is the solution.

What is the perimeter of this rectangle?
Slav-nsk [51]

The perimeter of a rectangle si length + length + width + width or 2l + 2w. Substitute your values in to get 2(70) + 2(65) → 140 + 130 → 270 feet

The rectangle has an area of x^2-7x+10 square meters and a width of x−5 meters. What expression represents the length of the rec
Katyanochek1 [597]

Answer:

length = x - 2

Step-by-step explanation:

Area (A) of rectangle = lw ( l is the length and w the width )

A = x² - 7x + 10 = (x - 2)(x - 5) ← in factored form

l = \frac{A}{w} = \frac{(x-2)(x-5)}{x-5}

cancel the factor (x - 5) on the numerator/ denominator, hence

l = x - 2

How far below the average is 1? 4? 6? How far above average is 9? 10? 12?
VladimirAG [237]
Sounds as tho' something's missing here.  What is "the average"  You haven't given it.

If "the average" were 5, then 1 is 4 units below the average, 4 is 1 unit below the average, and 6 is 1 unit above the average.

Check the original problem.  Isn't the average given there?
