Question 1. The correct answer is: They published The Federalist Papers, essays that presented logical arguments in favor of the Constitution.

The process was also known as the ratification of the Constitution. It was intended that, before the Constitution was adopted by the Confederation Congress, each state had to ratify it agreed with what the Constitution accounts.

Since there was an intense campaign of Anti-federalist to promote a bill of rights to guarantee individual liberties and refuse the need of a Constitution, a group of Federalist formed by James Madison, John Jay, and Alexander Hamilton came together in order to promote the Constitution by publishing many essays and articles, from 1787 to 1788, in different newspapers where they explained based on different points of view, why the Constitution was necessary for the country.

Question 2. The correct answer is: The president can choose to sign bills into law.

One of the several mechanisms which allow the US democracy as a whole function is the check and balances system also referred to as the separation of powers. Thus, the executive limits the legislative branch, when the President decides whether to sign a bill into law or not. After the legislative introduces and votes a bill, this goes to the President who decides if it’s good or not for the country and eventually sings or vetoes respectively.

Question 3. The correct answer is: The Supreme Court may judge executive acts unconstitutional.

If bills are signed by the President as in the above case, The Supreme Court appeals to judges, and district court judges who make the evaluations of them, and determine if the acts are against the Constitution in a process known as judicial review.

Question 4. The correct answer is: Congress may override a presidential veto with a 2/3 majority vote.

Since after Congress has passed a bill, the President has the power to veto that bill, Congress, in turn, can override a regular presidential veto by a two-thirds vote of both houses.

Question 5. The descriptions that match correctly with the appropriate government officials are:

 • President – commander in chief of the armed forces: thus correct
 • Vice president – casts a vote in the Senate to break a tie Representative: thus correct
 • If the following three are in the domain of the Senate, the House of Representatives and the Supreme Court respectively, they are correct.

Sets rates for income taxes Senator

Ratifies treaties Supreme Court justice

May declare a legislative or executive act unconstitutional
