Answer:

B. parathyroid hormone

Explanation:

 • The parathyroid hormone is secreted by the parathyroid gland and it is responsible for regulating the calcium levels in the serum.
 • Parathyroid hormone is able to exert its effect on the kidney, intestine and the bone and by exerting its effect on these organs it is able to regulate the calcium levels.
 • This hormone is secreted when the levels of calcium in the serum are low and this hormone is able to exert its effect by acting on the bones and stimulating the osteoclasts activity which causes the release of calcium from the bones and thus, the serum levels of calcium are elevated again.
 • If the levels of the parathyroid hormone would increase the reabsorption of calcium from the bone would be more and hence, it would lead to osteoporosis. Thus, it can be concluded that Sam's cancer cells are producing parathyroid hormone.

How does natural selection “drive” evolution?
yanalaym [24]

Because predators and prey must learn (or adapt) new ways of survival. Deer over time have learned to be much more sensitive to the surrounding environment, therefore, a deer's predator must also adapt/evolve and learn how to beat the deer at it's own game and catch it for food. Animals must evolve/adapt to any given environment. If humans lived in Antarctica for thousands of years, we would eventually be able to withstand the cold due to evolution. People who live in the Himalayas today actually breath normally at such high altitudes whereas if someone who lives at sea level went to where the Himalayan people lived, the result could potentiality be fatal because the body has not adapted/evolved at that point to withstand minimal oxygen.

How are invertebrates better? PLZ help ASAP
Masja [62]
Invertebrate, any animal that lacks a vertebral column, or backbone, in contrast to the cartilaginous or bony vertebrates. More than 90 percent of all living animal species are invertebrates. Worldwide in distribution, they include animals as diverse as sea stars, sea urchins, earthworms, sponges, jellyfish, lobsters, crabs, insects, spiders, snails, clams, and squid. Invertebrates are especially important as agricultural pests, parasites, or agents for the transmission of parasitic infections to humans and other vertebrates. Invertebrates serve as food for humans and are key elements in food chains that support birds, fish, and many other vertebrate species.Apart from the absence of a vertebral column, invertebrates have little in common. Indeed, they are distributed between more than 35 phyla. In contrast, all vertebrates are contained within a single phylum, the Chordata. (Phylum Chordata also includes the sea squirts and some other invertebrate groups.) Invertebrates are generally soft-bodied animals that lack a rigid internal skeleton for the attachment of muscles but often possess a hard outer skeleton (as in most mollusks, crustaceans, and insects) that serves, as well, for body protection.
