Zinc metal reacts with hydrochloric acid solution according to the reaction: zn(s) + 2 hcl(aq)  zncl2(aq) + h2(g). suppose 0.10

3 g of zn(s) is combined with 50.0 ml of hcl solution in a styrofoam cup calorimeter and all the zn(s) reacts. the temperature of the solution rises from 22.5 0 c to 23.7 0
c. the solution has a density of 1.0 g/ml and a specific heat capacity of 4.18 j/g- 0

c.

a. find ∆hr for this reaction in units of kj/mol.

b. what would be the work of the system in joules when one mole of zn reacts?

c. what would be the work of the system in joules when 0.103 g of zn reacts?

Mass of Zn  = 0.103 g

Volume of HCl (V) = 50.0 ml

Density of solution (D) = 1.00 g/ml

Mass of HCl = D*V = 1.00 g/ml * 50.0 ml = 50.0 g

initial temp T1 = 22.5 C

Final temp T2 = 23.7 C

specific heat c = 4.18 J/g C

The heat (Q) required to raise the temp is given as:

Q = mcΔT = mc(T2-T1)

  = (0.103+50)g * 4.18 J/g C * (23.7-22.5) C = 251.3 J = 0.2513 kJ

To find ΔH in kJ/mol

# moles of Zn = mass of Zn/Atomic mass = 0.103/65.39 = 0.00158 moles

a) ΔH = 0.2513 kJ/0.00158 moles = 159.05 kJ/mol

b) A calorimeter is an isolated system where there is no exchange of heat/energy.

Work done is given as: W = PΔV

since ΔV = 0, as the volume remains constant

W = 0

What is the pH of a solution with [H+] of 1x10^-8 M?*<br> 15<br> -8<br> 8<br> 80
Serga [27]

Answer:

<h2>8</h2>

Explanation:

The pH of a solution can be found by using the formula

pH = - log [ {H}^{+} ]

From the question we have

ph  =  -  log(1 \times  {10}^{ - 8}  )  \\  = 8

We have the final answer as

<h3>8 </h3>

Hope this helps you

2. How many moles of carbon dioxide, CO2, are in a 22 gram sample of the compound?
kotykmax [81]
To find the amount of moles in a molecule you divide the grams of the substance by the molar mass.
molar mass of CO2 = 44.01 g
22g / 44.01 = 0.50 moles CO2

complete the word equations below to show how the metals are extracted from their oxides: 1) tin oxide + carbon ---&gt; ........
boyakko [2]

Answer:

1.) Tin oxide + Carbon → Tin + Carbon monoxide.

2.) Lead oxide + Carbon → Lead + Carbon monoxide.

These equations show that the metals are being extracted by their oxides by heating with carbon. This is because the metals (Tin and Lead) are less reactive than carbon. Remember, extraction methods of metals are determined by their reactivity. Since the elements tin and lead are less reactive than carbon, the extraction process of heating with carbon is needed.  Remember that when a metal heats with carbon, the carbon displaces the metal from the compound and removes the oxygen from the oxide. Leaving you with the metal and carbon monoxide.

PLEASE HELP!! GIVING BRAINLIEST
RSB [31]

Answer:

The answer is "0.00172172603".

Explanation:

Given:

Mass (M) = 1.60 \times  10^{-3} \ g\\\\Density (D) = 9.293 \times 10^{-1} \ \frac{g}{cm^3}\\\\Volume (V) =  ?

Formula:

\to \bold{V = \frac{M}{D}}

       = \frac{1.60 \times  10^{-3}}{9.293 \times  10^{-1}} \\\\  = \frac{1.60 \times  10^{1}}{9.293 \times  10^{3}} \\\\ = \frac{1.60 \times  10}{9.293 \times  1000} \\\\ = \frac{1.60 }{9.293 \times  100} \\\\ = \frac{1.60 }{929.3 } \\\\= 0.00172172603
