PLEASE HELP!!!! In the problem below, the student made a mistake. What is the students mistake in 1-2 sentences?

1. The student changed -5x to -6x -1x. You can not simplify things like that, and it is not even equal to it’s original value.

2. The student correctly had x and -1 outside of the parenthesis, and should have stopped solving there. But those numbers totally vanished.

This may help:

There are \frac{1}{3} gallons of lemonade.
 
Two friends share the lemonade.

What fraction of the lemonade does each friend receive?

To solve you do kcf or keep change flip.

You keep \frac{1}{3} and change division to multiplication.

Then \frac{2}{1} is changed to \frac{1}{2}

So for the first one I subtracted like this:53.41- -2.99=56.4

You may be wandering why i subtracted that way,I did that because you are meant to subtract and the second number already has a negative sign which is MINUS.

And for the second I subtracted the smaller number from the bigger number this way:144.96 ‐ 37.8
