There are 7 whole numbers in a set of numbers. The least number is 10, and the greatest number is 20. The median is 16, and the

mode is 12. The mean is 15. What are the numbers?

Answer:

10, 12, 12, 16, 17, 18, 20

Step-by-step explanation:

The question has already given you most of the numbers - you can need to consider the different types of averages.

We know there is a 10, 12 (at least two 12's as it's the mode), a 16 and a 20. That's 5 numbers already.

As we know that 16 is the median, it HAS to be the 'middle' number - i.e. the 4th in the series (1st, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 7th)

That means we can now be sure that there are 2 12's, as follows:

10, 12, 12, 16, ?, ?, 20

We know we need the mean to equal 15 so...

Y/7 = 15, where Y is the sum of all 7 numbers

If we reverse this we can work out what the total of set needs to be

15*7 = 105

Therefore Y is 105

Adding the numbers we have so far together: 10 + 12 + 12 + 16 + 20 = 70

105 - 70 = 35

Therefore the last two numbers have to equal 35. As we know that 12 is the mode, one of the answers cannot be 16 as 16 would then also be the mode.

That means, as the numbers are all whole numbers, that the last in the set are 17 and 18.

To check this I then calculate the mean again:

10 + 12 + 12 + 16 + 17 + 18 + 20 = 105

105 / 7 = 15

What is the costant of proportionality in the equation y=2.5x
andrew-mc [135]

Answer:

k=2.5

Step-by-step explanation:

y \propto x

y=kx

k is the proportionality constant.

y=2.5x

The y is the independent variable and x is the dependent variable.

The proportionality constant is 2.5.

Which of the following is the area of the special trapezoid if AC = 8, BD = 12, and the height is 8? 40 units 2 800 units 2 400
jenyasd209 [6]

Answer:

80 units

Step-by-step explanation:

The area of a trapezoid is 1/2(B1xB2) times h. 8+12 is 20, divided by 1/2 is 10, and 10 times 8 is 80.

Hope this helped!❤

What is the probability of flipping a coin 6 times and getting all heads
abruzzese [7]
The probability of getting all heads is 1 / 2^6 = 1/64 as there is only 1 event where this happens in a possible 2^6 = 64 events. It is the same as the probability of getting all tails. The probability of getting at least 1 head is 1 - p(all tails) = 63/64.

HELPP PLEASE GIVE EVIDENCE ni
STALIN [3.7K]

Step-by-step explanation:

The value of k in the equation g(x) = f(x) + k comes out to be 8.

How the vertical shifting of a graph takes place?

If the graph of a function f(x) is shifted vertically by k units, f(x) becomes f(x)+k.

From the diagram, we can say that graph of f(x) has been shifted vertically by 8 units

If we shift f(x) vertically by 8 units f(x) becomes f(x)+8 and also coincides with the graph of g(x).

So, g(x) = f(x) + 8........(1)

Comparing (1) and g(x) = f(x) + k, we get k=8.

Hence, the value of k in the equation g(x) = f(x) + k comes out to be 8.

Factor: 9x^2 + 15x.
slega [8]

Answer:

3(3x^2 + 5)

Step-by-step explanation:

step 1: find out the greatest common factor (GCF) of the number 9 and 15

ex: 9x^2 + 15x   (3 * 3x^2 + 3 * 5)

step 2: factor out the common term 3

ex: 3 * 3x^2 + 3 * 5   (3 * 3x^2 + 5)

step 3: simplify the equation

3 * 3x^2 + 5   [3(3x^2 + 5)]
