APGAR is an assessment of how a baby is doing right after the mother gives birth. It identifies if the newborn is ready to meet the world without any further medical assistance. It is compose of 5 aspects namely Appearance, pulse, grimace, activity and respiration and being rate each from 0-2 and the sum of all these would indicate if the baby is healthy or not. In this situation, the baby scores 1 for appearance, pulse and respiration. He or she might score 7-5 which means an unhealthy baby and requires immediate attention like further suctioning and oxygen.

16. Explain why pollution caused the shift in the phenotypes of the peppered moth during the Industrial Revolution. (2pts)
andrey2020 [161]

Answer/Explanation:

Pollution during the industrial revolution caused trees to become covered with soot, making them darker. This dark appearance meant that the peppered moth, which usually had a light colour, was clearly visible against the tree. This meant it was easier for predators to identify. As a result, their numbers decreased because they were an easier target.

However, there was also a rarer form of the moth, which was dark in colour. These were initially very rare. However, because of the change in the tree colour owing to the industrial revolution, these moths were better suited to the environment, as they were more camouflaged against the dark tree. This meant it was easier for them to avoid predators, and so they were more likely to survive to reproductive age and pass on the genes that produce the dark colour.  This meant that the dark moths increased in number.

Use complete sentences to explain how the mass of hydrogen is conserved during cellular respiration.
erma4kov [3.2K]

Answer:

The mass of hydrogen is conserved during cellular respiration as it follows the Law of Conservation of Matter. This shows that hydrogen has been conserved throughout the entire process (H representing Hydrogen) as the product has the same amount of hydrogen as the reactants.

The AMOUNT of carbon-dioxide atoms released by respiration are EXACTLY EQUAL to the atoms of these materials contained in the oxygen and carbon converted. In this way respiration has conserved the mass or material and in this way followed the law of conservation of mass.
