If you are unable to purchase private insurance or insurance through your employer you should look into state (Medicaid) insurance program that helps with healthcare costs for people with limited income and resources. Not having health insurance could take a toll on your financial situation, in case of medical emergency or an accident, in my opinion, purchasing health insurance should be collaborative family decision as it would affect your entire family.
